Vicky Fraser, MD

Dr. Fraser’s academic and professional interests include infectious disease, health services research, health care epidemiology (hospital acquired infections and adverse events), sexually transmitted infections, and HIV/AIDS.  She is involved in clinical research training programs and directs the research, education, and training program for the CTSA through the Clinical Research Training Center.

Dr. Fraser has funding from the CDC to study the prevention and control of hospital acquired infections and from the NIH to study the epidemiology of surgical site infections, and provide clinical research training and mentoring. She teaches medical students, MPH students, housestaff, fellows and faculty in infectious disease, clinical research methods, and epidemiology. She serves as a mentor for MPH and PhD epidemiology graduate students and interns.

Dr. Fraser’s clinical interests include the care of underserved patients; specifically patients with HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse and mental health problems. She has experience developing and implementing interventions to improve health care outcomes in multiple clinical settings. Her research involves use of hospital based and large administrative data bases as well as patient populations.
